Chicago Blizzard 2011

We woke up this morning to one of the biggest blizzards in Chicago history! These are drifts at our neighbor's house...measuring over 48 inches! This is the view looking out our front door.
This is our front porch.
Nolan played delivery truck guy while watching the snow.

These are drifts in our driveway.
This is our backyard.
We braved the elements and went outdoors.
Pops and MoMo helped dig us out.
Nolan was king of the snow mountain...almost as high as our garage!

There is a huge blanket of snow...so beautiful and peaceful.
Nolan played on his swing set.

He played with his trucks.

We took a few sled rides.
The trucks went up the mountain.

Nolan was just in awe of the snow!
It was so deep!
He helped me dig a path for the mailman.
Nolan took his job very seriously.
This is a view from the middle of our street looking down the block. They hope the streets will be plowed by tomorrow morning.
Nolan checked out a fire hydrant across the street with our neighbor, Danny.
After four hours of digging and playing, we went in to thaw out because my toes were freezing...Nolan did not want to come inside. He wanted to stay outside all day.
It may be May before the snow melts away, so we will have many more opportunities to dig! We had a great snow day and enjoyed the winter weather!
